Event Description
Junior Mendelssohn: A Shining Night

The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh presents its annual concert on Sunday, November 11 at 4:00PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church. The Junior Mendelssohn, now in its 26th year, will perform Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, as well as two arrangements by Samuel Barber and Morten Lauridson of "...Sure on This Shining Night." The concert will also feature works by Sara Hopkins and James Bassi. Music Director Susan Medley will conduct.

A post-concert reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the concert.

Active since 1986, The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is a learning and performance opportunity for 8th- through 12th-grade students from throughout the Pittsburgh region. This season’s choir consists of 35 singers representing 22 schools.

Students receive instruction in sight-singing, diction, voice training and performance from the members of the professional core of The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Designed to complement the school vocal music curriculum, the Choir is open to students in every school district via audition. Scholarships are provided for students requiring assistance.
