Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars

Kim Wilson, the powerful voice behind The Fabulous Thunderbirds will bring his Blues All-Stars to The Kent Stage on Friday, June 15 at 8 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $20.50 at KentStage.com, 888-718-4253 and at The Kent Stage box office Monday - Friday from 1 until 6.

Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars was nominated for a Grammy in 2010 for its work on the "Cadillac Records" soundtrack, spending 48 weeks at the top of Billboard's blues chart. Although Wilson is both a singer and harmonic player, he has been crowned the "King of Chicago Blues harmonica," by his loyal legion of fans. Muddy Waters one deemed him "the best harmonica player since Little Walter."

Wilson will roll into town with four of his famous Blues All-Stars in tow. Larry "The Mole" Taylor will join Wilson on the upright bass. Prior to his stint with Canned Heat, he performed with The Monkees and Jerry Lee Lewis. Billy Flyyn, a mainstay of the Chicago Blues circuit for more than 20 years will join Wilson on the guitar. Flynn likes to challenge himself to learn new material. Last year, he played in more than 30 different bands. Wilson's pianist Barrel-house Chuck hails from Ohio. In his three-decade career he has studied under the likes of Sunnyland Slim, Pinetop Perkins, Blind John Davis and Little Brother Montgomery. Richard Innes will keep the Blues All Star beat. Having toured with Little Richard, Innes is credited with originating the "Modern West Coast" drumming style. When he is not touring with Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars, he drums for The Hollywood Blue Flames and The Mannish Boys.

Kent's own, The Bluestones to open.

Playing in Northeast Ohio for over fifteen years, The Bluestones are a four-piece band from Kent. They play a variety of music styles: oldies, classic rock, blues, and country. The Bluestones have performed at dozens of major events in Northeast Ohio, including the Blues and Brews Festival at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, the Akron Art Museum's Downtown at Dusk Summer Concert Series, Kent Heritage Festival and The NBA All-Star post game celebration.
The Bluestones, who served at the house band for Fat Fish Blue in Cleveland for a number of years, have opened for national acts such as Shamekia Copeland, Koko Taylor, and Robert Lockwood Jr. and have played more than 1,200 performances.
