This concert illustrates the transatlantic musical connection between the New World and the Old World during the 18th Century when adventurous immigrants traveled the high seas bringing with them, their compositional style and harmonic language. This new brand of music called galant was born in Naples, Italy and became a prevailing cosmopolitan style of the early classical era. Many musicians, just as people in other facets of society, sought an exciting life in the New World. These adventurous immigrants endured long weeks at sea to realize their dreams in the busy colonial capitals of New Spain.
