Event Description
Join PopRally as we celebrate The Contenders 2011 with a special screening of Lynne Ramsay’s We Need to Talk About Kevin, starring Tilda Swinton, John C. Reilly, and Ezra Miller. After the screening, Tilda Swinton participates in a conversation with Sally Berger, Assistant Curator, MoMA Department of Film. A reception follows, featuring a DJ set by Huggy Bear.

Ramsay’s gripping psychological thriller, based on the best-selling novel, explores the factious relationship between a parent and her child. Swinton, in a tour-de-force performance, plays Eva, a woman contending with the increasing malevolence of her 15-year-old son, Kevin (Miller). Ramsay's film combines moral ambiguity with a compelling narrative that builds to a chilling, unforgettable climax.

For the annual Contenders series, the Department of Film combs through major studio releases and the top film festivals in the world, selecting influential, innovative films made in the past 12 months that we believe will stand the test of time.

Screening begins promptly at 8:00 p.m., with reception following.

Admission includes film screening, conversation and cocktail reception.
