Shock Treatment
1981 / PG / 94 minutes

SHOCK TREATMENT is a 1981 American comedy-musical film and a follow up to THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW. While not an outright sequel, the movie does feature several characters from the movie portrayed by different actors and several Rocky Horror actors portraying new characters. It was originally titled The Brad and Janet Show, which included a similar plot and the same songs, but was rewritten to take place entirely in a studio when a crew strike made filming the outdoor scenes impossible.

Continuing from THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW are the characters of Brad and Janet Majors (now portrayed by Cliff De Young and Jessica Harper, respectively). The plot of the movie centers around reality TV, which is unusual given its 1981 release date. The film takes place in the town of Denton, Texas, which has been taken over by fast food magnate Farley Flavors (also played by De Young). The town of Denton is entirely encased within a television studio for network DTV (Denton Television). Residents are either stars and regulars on a show, cast and crew, or audience members. Brad and Janet, while seated in the audience are chosen to participate in the game show Marriage Maze by the supposedly blind and kooky host Bert Schnick (Barry Humphries). As a "prize", Brad is imprisoned on Dentonvale, a soap opera that centers around the local mental hospital run by brother and sister Cosmo and Nation McKinley (Richard O'Brien and Patricia Quinn).

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
1975 / R / 100 minutes

THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW is a magical phenomenon unlike anything ever before seen onscreen. Borrowing largely from cinema's horror conventions, the film begins as an innocent young couple is stranded at the home of a mad scientist who is building the perfect man. The castle is filled with a most bizarre group of characters who worship their master, Dr. Frank-N-Furter, played magnificently by the fabulously sexy Tim Curry, in leather jacket, pearls, fishnet stockings, and heavy makeup. Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are forced to examine their own sexuality as the voluptuous doctor releases the hidden desires in each of them.

Based on the stage musical by Richard O'Brien (who also appears in the film as Riff Raff), the film comes alive with unforgettable song-and-dance numbers that have come to represent the sexual liberation of the 1970s. The outstanding costuming and makeup, the terrific acting by a group of relative unknowns (Curry, O'Brien, Bostwick, Sarandon, Nell Campbell, Patricia Quinn, Meat Loaf), and the memorable songs ("Time Warp," "Sweet Transvestite") help make THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW one of the most bizarrely entertaining and satisfying musicals ever made.

THE RULES : Audience participation is encouraged. Please abide by these few simple rules : 1) NO PERISHABLE FOOD (rice, hot dogs, etc.) 2) NO SUPER SOAKERS (small water pistols ok) 3) NO OPEN FLAMES and 4) NO GIANT BAGS OF CONFETTI
