katie’s broadway preview attracts “anonymous” attention
This sign kills me!
Previews began Thursday night for the revival of Arthur Miller’s great play, “All My Sons,” on Broadway. In case you don’t know, Katie Holmes has a small role in the production.
Around 20 members of the anti-Scientology group, Anonymous, protested outside of the theater. Some of them wore “V for Vendetta” masks while shouting “SAVE KATIE!”
But I didn’t know that Beck was also a Scientology buff.
Of course Katie’s prison guard husband, Tom Cruise was there. He even waved and bowed for the audience before sitting down. Are you rolling your eyes? Cuz I’m totally rolling my eyes!

giddy-up!
Ah, it’s good to be back in the saddle!
After a full 5 days sans internet, tv, and land-line telephone I’ve felt…a little Amish actually. Hurricane Ike made it all the way to Western PA, leaving many, including my humble self, without power, water, internet, etc.
So I’m VERY happy to be back on the Shlog…bringing you a delightfully skewed view of music, entertainment, and of course, what’s new and exciting in the world of ShowClix!

ac/dc reveal north american tour dates
AC/DC have scheduled the North American leg of their upcoming Black Ice world tour, the band’s first since 2001.
Following the October 20th release of the band’s Black Ice, the “Rock N Roll Train” opens in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on October 28th and wraps up on December 18th in Charlotte, NC (more North American dates will be revealed soon).
AC/DC will then invade South America, Asia and Europe before returning to the U.S. for a run through stadiums in summer of 2009.

Yesterday at her GMA performance, everyone but Jessica Simpson knew that Jessica Simpson’s only chance at staying relevant was to get naked.
But based on these pictures of her crinkled butt, maybe she should design an space ship or raise the Titanic with her mind. You know, just to be safe.

a cranky kanye gets hauled to jail
Kanye West and his bodyguard, Don Crowley, were arrested at LAX this morning, the LAX Police Department has confirmed to Access Hollywood, which was the first news outlet to break the news online today.
The incident took place at 7:51 AM this morning at the entrance to the security checkpoint for American Airlines at Terminal 4 on charges of battery and vandalism. The two were en route to Honolulu at the time.
According to an eyewitness on the scene who spoke with Access, the incident began when Kanye approached a camera that was being aimed at him by a photographer.
According to the gossip Web site TMZ.com, the paparazzo was attempting to photograph the rap star, when Kanye allegedly confronted the photographer, grabbing his camera (reportedly valued at over $10,000) and smashing it to the ground.
Airport security intervened and took Kanye and the photographer aside, and spoke to both of them, later releasing them both.
Kanye then approached the photographer getting “in his face,” Access’ witness said. A group of flight attendants also saw Kanye confront the photographer, according to the witness.
A TMZ videographer named Erik, who was also present, was attempting to videotape Kanye and the photographer, when Don (the bodyguard) allegedly grabbed TMZ’s video camera. A struggle reportedly ensued between Don and Erik, which caused Erik’s camera to smash to the ground (yes, this was the 2nd camera smashed to the ground)!
According to TMZ, Kanye then tried to board his plane, but overheard police talking with Erik about whether or not he had filmed the incident.
Kanye reportedly then approached Erik demanding the tape, yelling, “Gimme that f****** videotape!”
As the incident escalated, approximately eight LAX police officers apprehended Kanye, putting him in handcuffs, and took him and Don into custody, according to Access’ witness.
Kanye and Don were taken to the LAPD Pacific Division where they were booked and charged with felony vandalism.
According to LAX Police, “Airport Police had initially received the call as also involving a potential battery. However, following initial investigation, it was determined that no battery occurred.”

Fried chicken doesn’t usually upend someone’s life. But it sure messed with Estelle. A few years ago, the singer-rapper spotted Kanye West at an L.A. chicken joint and asked him for a personal audience with John Legend. “I went to get some food,” she says, “and it changed my destiny.”
In 2007 U.S. R&B singer John Legend announced that Estelle would be the first signee to his Homeschool label, distributed by Atlantic. Her sophomore album, Shine, was released in April 2008.
Estelle is an amazing talent. Originally from the U.K., she has that London edge that’s so hot. Think Adele meets Salt-N-Pepa.

bye bye bluth?
Michael Cera officially makes my list of people I want to slap about the face and neck.
The actor, who will always be George Michael Bluth to me, doesn’t want to play the role in any up-coming Arrested Development movie. He claims he has no interest in participating in the AD film project.
“I don’t think I would want to see a movie of the series if I was a fan, anyway…And I don’t really see a need for it if you can get the three seasons on DVD.”
Will the movie be made without all Bluth’s on board? Probably not. Thus endeth my hopes and dreams for one of the best sitcoms EVER.

When a Lancaster, Kentucky woman was sent to jail for 3 days for wearing clothing to court that a judge had repeatedly deemed “too skimpy”, the local news action team got down to the jailhouse to get her side of the story, which is amazing.
Everything she says is like some kind of priceless Onion News Network joke, except she’s real.

alice in chains return to studio
After a 13-year absence from the LP game, the tragic death of original frontman Layne Staley, and the recent hire of singer William DuVall, Seattle grunge stalwart Alice in Chains will return to the studio to record a new album, according to a post from band blogger Baldy.
The quartet “gathered in a rehearsal studio in North Hollywood” in late July and early August to “polish and spit-shine” new material, and will “reconvene” this October to record the follow up to their last release, 1995’s self-titled set. “As 2008 winds down, band activity will be gearing up, and at some point in 2009 you’ll finally hear what I’ve been raving about for the last several months,” writes Baldy.
But with the addition of Duvall in place of Staley — whose trademark croon branded the band’s sound — many devout fans wonder if the new material will live up to the Chains’ ’90s heyday.
